$35,000 - seems well priced.

This the first M117/M119 example I come across in Germany. Though it may have come via Japan.

I'm actually a big fan of the burl door insets...which is also common in Japan, so that makes sense.

Was the M117/9 a retrofitted 119.960 with 117 front cover and bits, or a 117 with 119 heads fabricated to "fit"?
The former is believable because of the great differences between the 117 and 119 blocks.
Can anyone confirm?

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w126-s- ... ost4542123The early 119 blocks (90/91) were based on the M117. The M117/W126 distributor location is merely covered with a plate on these early blocks. The 117/119 block casting were later revised and the M117/W126 distro location was eliminated. So it's pretty safe to assume that the JP AMG division used the early 119 blocks for these late W126 conversions, removed the dual distributors, locked the cam timing and installed the M117 distributors.
It'd be a great project some day.
