AMG, which was the official performance division of Mercedes-Benz, has a long history of producing high-performance derivatives of Mercedes' standard production vehicles, and these improved versions enjoy an enthusiastic following world-wide, with prominent figures of the motorsport, entertainment, sport and business communities being counted among aficionados.
The car offered here is a 1992 Mercedes-Benz 500SL left-hand drive convertible that was converted to 'SL60' specification by AMG prior to 1997. As such, this car has the 6.0-litre, 32-valve V8 engine (rather than the stock 500SL's 5.0-litre unit) producing in excess of 380bhp (reputedly, AMG later admitted to in excess of 400 horsepower). A 0-62mph (100km/h) time of 5.85seconds and a top speed of 155 mph (249km/h) were claimed for the SL60, the latter figure increasing to 185mph (298km/h) with the limiter removed.

A very rare ( only 300 ever built between 1992-1999) Mercedes AMG SL 500 6.0.

First registered in Germany February 1992, the car had two German owners before being exported to Southern Spain where it had the same owner for over 10 years until we purchased it recently.

This car is in stunning condition for a vehicle of 21 years vintage, courtesy of living in Marbella in a dehumidified underground garage. Used as a second car, it has a full MB service history from its time in Spain, with its one owner since importation from Germany. The car has been fully serviced, has had a full detailing paint correction treatment and has had the 3 piece wheels correctly stripped and refurbished.

The performance over a standard 500 SL has to be seen to be believed and I personally drove this car 1,670 miles back from Marbella via Barcelona, Montpellier, Rheims to Calais in 22 hours of driving plus a short stop for sleep.
