the translation says something about a BMW transmission, anyone know what that's about?

i'm assuming this person went back to AMG for the mods as that's a gen 2 air dam, correct?

There is no "Gen I" or "II" front spoiler. There were 3 spoilers available at the same time according to sales brochures... all came out at the same time.

I don't know German (and don't feel like using Google Translate), but "von 190 PS auf 230 PS" sounds like it could be an AMG modded m110 engine, and if so, that certainly makes it rarer than the 5-speed getrag 717 that MB (not AMG) put on lots of m110 engines.

Yes, the description does state a modded engine. For a 1978, I don't think MB offered a 5-speed just yet. I'm under the impression a 5-speed was offered for the 280 from 1982-ish onwards. Prior to that, it was automatic or 4-speed.

gotcha, thanks for the info. i was under the assumption the getrag was made/for mercedes only and that the air dams were released at different times.

Yes. That's true. The getrag 717 came along around 1981 I think. The 716 five speed was available in 74-76 280sl/SLC, and based on the numbering, I believe that may have also been a getrag. For some reason it was not available in any of the 77-81 SLC (or 77-80 SL) cars.
