On Bring a Trailer, AMG 6.2 powered 560 SEC.

Not an original AMG build, but I would believe it belongs here, as the powerplant is an AMG 6.2, with a 6 speed manual.

Not a "period" builder other than AMG, so I didn't feel it should be buried in the section with the other non-AMG period builders.

Bid is at over a quarter million, with 9 days left.

Could be one of my top 10 favorite SEC builds I've ever seen.

What do you guys/gals think?

Pretty bonkers build. Seems they pivoted from their 1st offering and added a powertrain upgrade. Well done.

The attention to detail is indisputable. (sans painting over the chipped pumpkin) The amount of time and money put into this is undeniable. The choice of finishings/design is subjective.

One option that should be considered is the carbon fiber-ness of the WB body kit. This elitist term/claim has been used in their past offerings yet no clarity had been offered as to whether its truly carbon fiber through and through.

The kit appears to be a slightly modified Duraflex kit wrapped in a single layer of carbon fiber.

Other than that, considering today's shop rates, a quarter mill seems about right to replicate this build. The resto-mod trend has always been to shove a contemporary power plant into a classic. But besides cobbling an auto-box bell housing together, there really isn't anything bespoke about this example, unless you consider grandma's shelving paper wrapped interior wood that.

If time is money, there is a lot of it here.

I couldn’t agree with you more. I think this was a case of having the right people on the room auction

I didn’t see any mention of a lot of specifics. What transmission was used? (Other than “a Mercedes 6 speed was fitted”.) We all know Mercedes is not exactly famous for fitting the best manuals , let alone one that can reliably handle the torque of the M156. My money is on a Crossfite transmission) What kind of “limited slip was used? Factory clutch type (again weak for the torque and tire size) or a more modern type? What engine management was used? Beautiful car don’t get me wrong, but doubtedly 560k beautiful.
If this sold for 560k, no reason why I couldn’t sell my M120 powred 6speed manual SEC with a fresh paint job and new leather for 250k.
Any takers??

lacking the undercarriage, nut and bolt spit shine, this can be had for a 1/10th the price. a great start if you like red.
