Ron should post a thread here as well. He will be welcome I am sure.
I sent Ron an email to apologize for my posts here and elsewhere.

We all like the threads bringing the cars back.

For everyone's information, Ron has begun a restoration thread on this car here:
http://www.500eboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6972

He plans to update it regularly as the project progresses. :ugeek:

Cheers,
Gerry

Ron sent me a couple dozen photos, which I posted on his thread on my forum with his permission (he was having photo-posting problems). I think as he explores the car he'll be sending along even more photos - I posted a bunch more up last night that he sent me.

This deal was in the works for some time, and Ron kept a few of his close confidants (including Jono) apprised via email as it was shaking down. I fully expect that this car will be restored

Thanks for the links, Gerry. I waited until the sale was posted elsewhere before I posted, above (at the request of Jono, who sent me the pics). I hope Ron brings this rare car back to a level it deserves. I think many would have made a more serious (and sooner) effort for the car if the wheels were know to exist.

Nice to finally meet you at the MB dealer, as well.

Al

Hi Al,

This sale has already been noted in another thread here: http://www.mercedes-amg-classic.com/for ... =11&t=1952

It is also covered over in the 500Eboard's AMG section: http://www.500eboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6943

And on Banzworld, where the hating continues: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w126-s- ... st10604921

By the way it was great to meet you this summer & I really enjoyed seeing your car.

Cheers,
Gerry

Linda Sexton Widebody - Sold

Well, the long-advertised Washington Widebody has been bought (Ron500E) after all those years advertised after her husband's passing. We all lamented over the increasingly distressed look of the car in the FS pics and that it wasn't sporting the long lost Widebody five-spoke wheels. I have some recent pics that I will post, and one of the pics shows 8 (count 'em) Widebody Pentas - 3 10x16's and 5 9x16's! (plus the 4 mis-matched wheels on the car). Sheesh, after all the questions sent and conversations over the years, she had the wheels all along.

Don't know the purchase price, but Ron claims to want to fully restore the car. That will be an expensive resto. But the car is a very legit Widebody with a 6.0 32v engine and an interesting history.

Al
