AMG Classic Landing Page

Post by 48hp »

Some of you may recall that AMG Classic website originally had an official landing filled with a AMG History, AMG photos, AMG options drop down menus, photo galleries, etc.

We are considering whether to bring back back a refreshed landing page.

Was it helpful?
Was it insightful?
Was it unnecessary?

Thoughts?

Thank you.

I think all that depends on whether we continue on as a public forum, or a closed, registered members only forum.

Frankly, the latter is a refreshing breath in light of all the other forums out there, but it all depends on how you, and us as a community want to capitalize on the AMG attention following the 50th, and bringing more and more pre-merger owners together by being a free-for-all public forum.

Maybe by then, the mothership will notice.

The landing page this morning on my iPhone (before login) was showing the menu in the top half of the form, with big words to click easily to get to the forum. But it didn't look right. I can email a picture if desired.

That makes me think, I don't think I get email notifications of thread updates from this site. I have to come proactively come check it every once in a while. I'm more active now that I'm working on a 1985 500se, but don't want to jinks myself like I did with my 280slc. So... no thread here really.

The email notification is an option that can be selected within your preferences.

We've just launched a new Main Site landing page. We encourage everyone to have a peek and give us feedback. Thank you.

My 0.02, I really enjoy the dropdown menu that allows me to keep up with "Active Threads" or "Unread Posts". It saves me time so I don't have to scroll thru dozens of threads to keep up with new information.

I signed up for email notifications, which worked for the first couple of days and then they stopped arriving (checked my junk mail and they were not there either), so I made a point to check in once every day from Monday thru Friday...not a big deal for me since I start work in my computer by 6:30am.
